Why Forgive?

"Life becomes easier when you learn to accept an apology you never got." ~Robert Brault

Forgiveness comes a little easier for some people. The most successful clients I have represented are those that are able to forgive. Divorce is so painful; so difficult and sometimes it is just feels so unfair. The clients that have been able to move beyond the pain and forgive are those that I believe are the most successful and happy. The ability to forgive is so freeing and opens the door to move on to the next chapter.

"Weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Forgiveness starts with strength. I have had clients who have been truly wronged - emotionally, mentally, spiritually and even physically. Despite the pain that has been inflicted upon them they have been able to look within and realize forgiveness is the best and truly only way. It takes strength to forgive. It takes courage to forgive - a lot of courage.

"Forgiveness doesn't change the past, but it does enlarge the future." - Unknown

Forgiveness does not mean forgetting; rather accepting. It means realizing we all make mistakes, and we are all perfectly imperfect. It means acknowledging what is and what was. The act of letting go creates an avenue that enables one to move forward, to reflect on how you may have contributed to the situation and to determine what you may want to change for your future.

"Forgiveness is not an occasional act, it is a constant attitude." ~ Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Finally, the truly happiest clients are those that embrace a forgiving temperament coupled with an inner strength and a true love of themselves. These clients look at the future with the ability to see promise and a new adventure, rather than focusing and reliving the past.

Is there anyone you need to forgive?
